Masterclass: Female hormone fluctuations and ADHD traits. (April 2023)
£15.00
This event was live on the 26th April 2023 at 8pm – 9pm GMT
Have you noticed a variation in ADHD traits throughout the various points of your month?Â
Studies have shown that oestrogen improves memory and cognitive functioning. So it makes sense that when it lowers, so too do our cognitive skills. But in puberty, oestrogen levels soar, and for those with ADHD cognitive function doesn’t magically improve.
It seems so complicated – join us to better understand how hormonal fluctuations in women and people who menstruate impact and challenge ADHD symptoms.
Join Dr Soracha Cashman for an interactive Masterclass to demystify and untangle hormones and ADHD
Learning Outcomes
After the Masterclass, you will have a better handle on:
- Why Executive Function skills and cognitive capacity can fluctuate with hormonal fluctuations
- Why it can be so difficult to stay in balance at key reproductive stages: Puberty, Menstrual Cycle, Pregnancy, Perimenopause, Menopause
- How Oestrogen impacts neurotransmitters that play a role in ADHD: dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.Â
- Why Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is more prevalent with ADHD
- How tracking your cycle can help you recognise your EF needs and manage your individual cognitive well-being as your hormones fluctuate.
*Language is important: Not everyone who menstruates identifies as a woman, and not everyone who identifies as a woman menstruates. We aim to be inclusive of all brains in our Masterclasses.
Please note: This Masterclass is aimed at those who have a good understanding of executive functions. If you haven’t done so already, we recommend you take our Introduction to Executive Functions course.
