Goal-Directed Persistence – Learn how to set achievable goals and stay motivated

Goal-Directed Persistence – Learn how to set achievable goals and stay motivated

£20.00

Course Description

Goal-directed persistence is one of our executive functions that enable us to set goals and follow through to the completion of that goal. It also includes overcoming challenges with getting and staying motivated. Challenges with goal-directed persistence can lead to work being completed late (or not at all), frustration and feeling overwhelmed. Improving your goal-directed persistence can help you reduce these feelings and regain control of your work and home tasks.

This course takes a practical approach to boost your goal-directed persistence, demonstrating that these skills are critical to being effective and succeeding both at work and at home.

Executive functions are a set of skills that allow us to direct our focus to plan, start, remember, and continue tasks: inhibition, cognitive flexibility and working memory.

What you will learn

  • Understand goal-directed persistence and motivation in relation to executive functions and neuroscience
  • Learn some new strategies that you can start using straight away to improve your ability to get and stay motivated, and to set and achieve your goals
  • A downloadable handout which summarises the key concepts and exercises that you can do to consolidate your learning
